Kenya's Leading Oncologist β Dr. Omar Abdihamid β Trusted Worldwide
About Me
Who is Dr OMar
Hello, I’m Dr. Omar Abdihamid, a dedicated clinical oncologist based in Kenya with over a decade of experience in cancer care, clinical research, and medical education. My mission is to deliver compassionate, evidence-based oncology treatment while advancing awareness, prevention, and equitable access to cancer care across Africa.
I specialize in clinical oncology and cancer policy, with training from Central South University (China), a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology & Biostatistics) from James Lind Institute, and a research fellowship in Cancer Policy at Queen’s University, Canada. Over the years, I have combined clinical practice, academic research, and community outreach to make cancer treatment more accessible in underserved regions.
As the Lead Oncologist at Garissa Cancer Center—the first of its kind in Northern Kenya in over 60 years—I have pioneered efforts to bring oncology services closer to marginalized communities. I also practice at HCGCCK Cancer Centre in Nairobi, where I provide specialized treatment and patient-centered care.
Beyond clinical practice, I am deeply committed to mentoring medical students and young professionals, advancing clinical research, and promoting early cancer screening initiatives. My work as a scientific writer and contributor to international oncology journals reflects my belief in bridging the gap between medical science and patient understanding.
Whether in the hospital, classroom, or community, I strive to uphold the values of dignity, respect, and hope for every patient—because quality cancer care should not be a privilege, but a right for all.
